Chris MacDonald is endorsed by the Elvis Presley Estate
and
appears twice a year at Graceland.
National tribute artist Chris MacDonald’s musical roots come
from early rock-a-billy and classic country. Chris is more than
your typical Elvis tribute artist. Chris' performance of the
"Memories of Elvis" show draws the audience into the illusion
with the look, sound and excitement that made Elvis the "King"
of rock- and- roll. He is more of a historian on the music and
style of Elvis' career from rock-roll to country than most even
though he was in elementary school when Elvis died. At a very
early age Chris began to enjoy the films of Elvis that were
often played on local television stations Saturday and Sunday
afternoons. A true love for the music and image of his idol made
a study of Elvis' persona very enjoyable to this impressionable
young man. Later on as an adult Chris dressed up as Elvis for
Halloween and by chance was discovered by an entertainment group
who specialized in celebrity look-a-likes . He was asked to join
in their lip sync shows. Chris explained that he had been
working on Elvis’ vocals ever since he could remember. He
auditioned for them with his live vocals. They were very
impressed and they agreed that he would sing live on all his
performances. Soon after he began performing local oldies radio
station took an interest in his show and suggested that he set
out on his own and get a band together. After doing this, things
took off like a rocket. Singing Elvis' songs and practicing his
moves had always been a favorite childhood past time. Now they
are an enjoyable way to earn a living. How many people can
actually say that they truly love what they do? The very
unpretentious and natural vocals of Chris MacDonald bring you
back to the roots of Elvis' popularity, the live performance of
his music. You’ll end up enjoying Chris as much as you do the
Elvis music.
Performances at the Sunrise Musical Theater with the Jordanaires
(original backup singers for Elvis) and D.J. Fontana (Elvis'
drummer in the 50's), Breakers Hotel, South Beach and many other
charity events has made Chris a favorite to a wide range of
audiences. The past three years Chris has had the honor of being
contracted to perform a tribute to Elvis during August tribute
week for Elvis Presley Enterprises at Graceland and Elvis
Presley’s Memphis Restaurant in Memphis Tennessee. He has also
been asked to perform at the Heartbreak Hotel for January’s
Elvis birthday tribute week in 2002. Chris has also opened for
the South Florida appearance of "Elvis the Concert" 2001. The
show, where Elvis is on the 40-ft screen backed by his original
70’s concert band is currently touring the United States and
Europe. Feature articles in the Miami Herald, Sun Sentinel and
The Post Times News-papers, along with local radio and
television stations have praised Chris' performance to Elvis as
a truly refreshing and entertaining tribute to the "King" of
rock-and-roll.
Chris, being versatile, has a background in acting and theater;
along with parts in Miami Vice and films such as " Mr. Right'
have earned him recognition in the industry. Chris is also on
the sound track for a recently completed independent film
entitled "All Shook Up", a feature film centering around a
mysterious 60 year old man who tries to help some young people
in trouble with a small town Sheriff (Played by Frank Gorshin).
This reclusive older man is really the King of Rock-n-Roll in
hiding. It’s a fun little fable sure to entertain.
Chris also performs music of the 50's through 90's: including
contemporary country plus, some of his own original music. He
received the Broward County Florida Country Music Association
Male Vocalist of the Year award in 1997. Chris was also one of
the featured artists on an independently produced original
country music revue C.D. recorded at Al Jolson Studios under the
production of Charlie McCoy. The Deuces Wild C.D received the
F.C.M.A BEST CD OF THE YEAR AWARD. The Deuces Wild Music Review
consisting of performances of these original songs was brought
to Las Vegas December 2 - 11 1999. While appearing in this show
Chris auditioned for John Stewarts "Legends in Concert" show.
Chris was then hired to perform Elvis for The Legends in Concert
Theater in Branson, Missouri and other locations throughout the
U.S.
Chris
MacDonald's Memories of Elvis show is truly a crowd pleaser.
